Hull Bay, St. Thomas, USVI
Hull Bay, St. Thomas, USVI
This beach is a must at some point during your trip! There are concessions there but we recommend bringing your own food and drink with you as they recently changed ownership and it hasn't been as good since. They do have a bar if you need an extra drink when the cooler runs dry, but for food your best bet is grabbing a sandwich to go at North Side Grind right up the hill. The taxis will drop you off near the concessions, but for a more secluded local feel head to the left side of the beach opposite of the concessions. This beach isn't the best for snorkeling.
Check out Sapphire beach which offers a beautiful view of St. John and other surrounding islands, a fun place to snorkel, relax and spend time at the beach bar! Some guests may even be staying at the condos which are situated right on the beach and can rent via Airbnb. This is a great beach to go to if you want a place to eat and drink.
Located at our wedding venue, hull bay is a great place to hang for the day. You can grab some food and drink at the shack and watch the surf as hull bay is the most popular surfing beach on St. Thomas.
I wouldn't say this beach is the most stunning beach on St. Thomas but its a great option if you like going somewhere with access to a solid restaurant and bar.
Located on the east end of St Thomas Lindquist is one of the best beaches on island. Definitely worth going here especially if you are staying on the east end of the island.
If you want to go to one of the most secluded beaches on St Thomas, Neltjeberg is at the top of the list. Located on the North Side of the Island about a few bays down from our wedding venue. This beach is secluded for a reason. The drive is about 2 miles down a steep, rough, dirt road. You must have an SUV and 4 wheel drive to make this trek and be confident in your driving skills. Its practically one lane so you may even have to back up at times if you see another car until they can pass. Given the challenging drive its only worth making the trip if you are there for at least half the day. Make sure to bring plenty of food, water, and beer as the closest store is all the way back up at the top of the main road about 2 miles up the dirt road. You can park right where the road levels out at the bottom and then you can walk a short walk to the beach from there.
This business is owned by our good friends Chris and Katie. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon having delicious pizza and cocktails on the water in a beautiful cove of an island about a 5-10 minute boat ride away from the east end of ST. Thomas. There is an option for a shuttle you can find on their website.
This is a great affordable half day trip. They offer one that stops at pizza pi and lets you go for a snorkel!
We love to rent kayaks here and explore the mangroves which are incredibly beautiful! We often kayak to a small secluded beach where we'll enjoy a little picnic and can snorkel all over.
Take a guided a tour where you'll get to kayak all over, learn about the mangroves and even check out the secluded beach, home to the most hermit crabs you'll ever see in your life!
If you have a full day to spare we recommend a day trip to St. John to visit their world class beaches and fantastic hikes. 2/3 of the Island is national park so it has a much more unspoiled feel than St. Thomas. You can either take the car barge over or the people ferry and take a taxi to the beach of your choosing. If taking a taxi we would recommend spending the day at Cinnamon beach. For lunch its best to grab sandwiches to go at North Side Grind in Mongoose Junction.
No better way to see the island than chartering a boat for the day! If you are looking to charter a boat we would recommend the following charter companies run by families we know:
Carpe Diem Charters

Sea & Ski

If you are looking for a more European beach club feel check out Lavango Beach Club. You need to pay to use their beach club, but with the daily rate you get access to the pool, a beach chair, or cabana, and transportation to the island for free. They have a restaurant and bar on the island and fantastic views of St. John and St. Thomas. If you don't want to spend the money on a boat charter for the day this can give you a similar adventure for less cost.
This is a great way to get out on a boat and do some great snorkeling. This half day trip is on a catamaran sail boat and it takes you out to the uninhabited Buck island. You are guaranteed to see sea turtles when snorkeling here!
Park at the top of the gated community and hike your way down to this incredible shelled beach that, of course, looks like a mermaids tail! Some often get a chance to see this beautiful spot as you fly into St Thomas. The path down is all paved since you walk through a community but then take the wooden steps down to this beautiful spot. It's a long great hike/walk. This activity is all the way at the west end of the island so budget a good 4-5 hours round trip for this.
For one of the best down island views head to mountain top. It's quite literally one of the highest points on island with an amazing down island view of St. John and the British Virgin Islands. They have a bar where you can grab a drink and a small gift shop.
Really good milkshakes (w/ alcohol included) if you feel so inclined! This place is the perfect treat to end your day after a long day at Magen's bay.
If you love deep sea fishing there is no better place to look than double header!
If you are certified make sure to check out our local reefs while you are here.
Doesn't get much better than catching it yourself!
If you want to learn how to spearfish. See & Ski offers a great tour where you will go home with a fresh catch.
Great Activity for Kids. Basically its a bunch of water trampolines right of the beach in the ocean.
Great activity for kids with plenty of cool exhibits showing off the Caribbean sea life.
This isn't the most serious ziplining in the world but you get great views and its something different than just lounging around at the beach.
If you are feeling adventurous book a surf lesson at hull bay beach. You need to be a strong swimmer as the paddle out is a bit long. Note that the wedding is when the swells can be big so there will be times where it might be too big for beginners.
